Family holidays to Tenerife are fun-filled and entertaining and you are never short of something to do with the kids. There is an abundance of excursions and attractions to delight your wee ones with and create some long-lasting memories. To help you plan your next sun getaway to this beautiful Canaries Island, I have created a top list of family activities!
This slice of paradise is the Canaries famous animal adventure park which gives visitors unforgettable holiday memories, especially children! Various shows are performed by the animals including gorillas, tigers, sharks and sea lions and the dolphins put on spectacular shows in the largest dolphin pool in Europe. Finding your way to the park should be no hassle as it is based in the popular resort of Puerto de la Cruz and is near to many family-friendly hotels.
Established as one of the best water parks in the world, Siam Park is known as the “water kingdom” in Tenerife. With attractions such as the Dragon raft ride, Tower of Power, Mai Thai River and the biggest artificial wave pool in the world, the kids will be in water heaven here. Try to arrive at the park early in the day to avoid queues and guests staying in Los Christianos, Playa des Americas and Costa Adeje should enquire at their hotel about the park’s free shuttle bus service.
Mount Teide National Park
Enjoy stunning views of Spain from its highest peak, Mount Teide which sits at a staggering 12,200 feet high in an enormous volcanic crater (30 miles in circumference). You will need a whole day to really appreciate the natural beauty in the park and we would highly recommend you request permission at the national park’s office to visit the mouth of the volcano, an exhilarating and educational experience for the little ones. Transport to and from your hotel can be easily arranged if you speak to a representative at the front desk!
Feeling adventurous? Go on a trek through the beautiful countryside and enjoy panoramic Canarian landscapes while sitting atop your trusty steed. There are many riding stables dotted around Tenerife, close by and easy to access from all major family holiday resorts. This is a very leisurely and enjoyable way to explore the island and catch some amazing views that you otherwise wouldn’t get to experience. When you finish your trek why not visit a nearby beach and go for a refreshing dip in the clear waters!
Other fun excursions to try out with the kids include hiking, scuba diving and water sports on the beaches lining Tenerife’s scenic coastline. If you have any other recommendations I’d love to hear them. Drop me a comment below or on my Facebook or Twitter page!
